As the “automatic reindeer flashers” put anxious children on high alert, the announcement that guests were approaching the North Pole came over the loudspeaker. Lights from the massive Coeur d’Alene Resort Holiday Light Show could be seen from afar on board the Mish-An-Nock. You can also bring your four-legged friends for photos with Santa at the COUNTRY STORE (6265 N. Government Way) from 1-4 pm on Dec. 7 and again at PETCO (420 W. Wilbur Ave.) from 1-4 pm on Dec. 14. The suggested donation of $10 benefits the Kootenai Humane Society.
This was the first year of taking the cruise even though I go every year to see the light displays. It is no wonder it is a yearly tradition for so many folks. If you haven't been before, I encourage you to go next December. More than 250 holiday light displays and millions of lights illuminate the path as children trek to Santa, Mrs. Claus, elves and even the Grinch.
The tree will be set upon arrival pre-lit, adorned with Northwest-inspired pine cones, cranberries, a tree topper & skirt. Four daily cruise times are available between November 23 - January 2nd in 2024.
Overnight packages and deluxe private cruises are available. With a jolly countdown, one of the world’s largest floating Christmas trees lit up, bringing smiles to all. The lights on the tree flashed in unison to a rock ‘n’ roll version of “Carol of the Bells,” as Santa danced the night away.
